The Paphos International Chess Tournament is the biggest chess event in Cyprus. It is a classic 9-round tournament following the standards of major international events. After the huge success of the first two tournaments and the rave reviews, the tournament is expected to attract over 200 chess players, including 100 athletes from abroad representing more than 25 different countries. Over 30 titled chess players will compete in the tournament, among them chess players who hold the highest title in chess, that of grandmaster. The tournament is twinned and connected with the Mikis Theodorakis International Tournament that takes place a few days later in Chania.
